Celebration: Two Years of the Hall of Beorn

2nd Anniversary bear-cake-small

Two years ago today, I started the Hall of Beorn – just a bear and an idea. It has been a grand adventure sharing my thoughts, deck lists, and rants with you fine readers and I thank you for accompanying me on this journey. I look forward to a bright future of many more years from this great game. In the mean time, here are some interesting facts about the last year all the Hall of Beorn.

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 330,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 14 days for that many people to see it.

The busiest day of the year was December 15th with 1,433 views. The most popular post that day was Decks.

Over the course of the year the most popular articles were found in Decks and Beorn’s Path.

The Hall of Beorn has readers from 135 countries in all. Most visitors came from The United States. The United Kingdom & Germany are not far behind. As someone who loves to travel, it is exciting to see that readers come to visit from all over the world. Mrs. Beorn and I are looking to travel soon (hopefully to Spain) so we might even have a chance to meet some of our readers in person.

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game has one of the best communities of any game I have every played. Having such great people with which to share my love of the game is not only rewarding, but it makes this more than just a game. I am grateful to be part of this community. I want to extend a special thanks to my fellow members of the Grey Company: Ian, Derek and Matthew, is is a pleasure to work with you to create something that others can find useful and enlightening. Thanks also to the Cardboard of the Rings, Master of Lore, Dor Cuarthol, Second Hand Took, GeckoTH and all of the other fine and talented content-creators. May you all have a happy and productive 2015!

I’m one of your chileans readers, far away in the last lands of South America. This is the first time that i wrote to you. First of all, I love the blog, good articles, an amazing card searcher, so congratulations for the Second Year Online.

Maybe my english is not the best, but I’m sure that you will understandme.
Greetings for the southern part of t

    • Beorn says:

      Hola, Finduin!

Primero que nada, tienes un muy buen Ingles. Me alegra bastante que disfrutes el blog y el card search, y aprecio mucho tu apoyo desde Chile. Feliz año nuevo!

  2. David says:

    Congratulations Big Bear!!!

  3. edvandofilho says:

Congrats man! Im one of yours Brazilian reader. Your blog is amazing!

Only one thing I would love to see. When you create a deck, it would be nice if I could click the cards to see what they do, cos I sometimes don’t remember.

    • Beorn says:

Thanks, Edvando! I want to try to add that feature, but I’m not sure if WordPress allows javascript to be included in an article. Have a happy new year!

  4. Pengolodh says:

    Make that 25 comments…
Wow, great to see that you’ve reached two years on the blog! Congrats! I myself have only been playing for slightly over a year, and your blog and decklists have helped out a lot. Interesting to see the statistics. Never thought that I commented so much to get into the top five.

    • Beorn says:

Thanks, Pengolodh! I appreciate the comments. As much time asI put into the blog, it is always nice to have a reminder that others are out there reading it. 🙂

  5. wehemarc says:

First of all, congrats Beorn !!

And in second place… if you finally come to Spain, and you visit Catalunya (North-east region of Spain, we are those who want to become independant) I’d be glad to share a game with a bear, and/or, if you need it, telling you about some nice places to see here.

    • Beorn says:

      Thanks, Wehemarc!

We don’t yet know where we will be in Spain, but if we are in your neighborhood, I will certainly accept your offer. Regards.

  6. TalesfromtheCards says:

Congrats! It’s been a great journey!

  7. Happy launch anniversary! 300k+ is amazing.

Four more year! Four more years! 😉

  8. Have I looked at your blog 582 times or are there actually other players if this game in Hong Kong? Where are you?

    • Beorn says:

Put the word out and see. It wasn’t until I mentioned that I am Austin a few times that I was able to discover the community of players here. I’m sure that you will be pleasantly surprised to find some players there in the Pearl of the Orient.

  9. John says:

Just started playing lotrlcg and this was one of the first sites I found. Since then, me and the wife have almost finished all of the first story cycle and can’t wait for your next tutorial. Any word on when that’ll be?

    • Beorn says:

Thanks, John. I have the notes for my play-through of the second scenario of Khazad-dum, but I have yet to type them into an article. It takes quite a bit of time to type up these play reports, and I find myself with many responsibilities these days. I cannot promise that Beorn’s Path will continue in written form, but I may be looking at recording subsequent scenarios as videos. We’ll see what my time allows. In the mean time, I wish you and your wife much luck on your adventures through Middle-earth!

      • John says:

Maybe instead of doing the play by play, you could just point out the reason for card choices in the deck building section. It would seem to save time, especially since the events that happen during the play by play can be pretty situational. But what do I know lol.

  10. Jobannez says:

    Congrats from Italy.
For everything concerning Lotr Lcg this blog of yours is a must see!
I own the compete collection (to date), but sadly played very few games due to work (it’s hard to stay focused in evening time)… Still, I check your blog almost daily.

    Well done!

    • Beorn says:

Thanks, Jobannez! I understand not being able to play as much. Sometimes I wish that I had some trusty dwarves to fulfill my other responsibilities, so that I had more time to play.

  11. biosfofo says:

    Hi from Spain.
This blog is amazing. I started with this game the last summer and Hall of Beorn has been very very useful in my first games.
It is a must see every day, and I hope new entries every day ;D
    Your work is fantastic.
For the new year I want to comment your entries, but it’s very difficult for me write in English

    • Beorn says:

      Gracias, biosfofo!

Por favor, siéntase libre de comentar. Los lectores del blog son de todas partes del mundo. Todo el mundo hace lo posible por entender.

  12. nyckk says:

    Glückwunsch from Germany!

Your blog always inspires and makes the game more fun.

  13. David says:

A little late on commenting here. I haven’t been on here since last year. I am your Ugandan reader. (Not a Ugandan, just an American living here) I love your posts, and my wife and I love the game. Your content really sold me on this game.

    • Beorn says:

Greetings, David, and welcome all the way from Uganda! My wife and I both really enjoy playing this game as well, it is nice to have something strategic and cooperative that we can play together. I’m glad that you have found the blog to be beneficial.
