As anyone who runs a blog can tell you, there is quite a bit of comment spam that comes in on a regular basis. Fortunately, the WordPress system has built-in spam blocking that is about 99% accurate at filtering out the noise. Even so, from time to time I go into the spam folder and double-check, just to make sure that no one’s comments are accidentally getting flagged. Most often, these “comments” are just a bunch of links to buy replica watches, SEO optimization for my site (because, you know, my blog should come up #3 in the results when you search for “Godless Orc-Slayer”) and Viagra. I must admit to being especially perplexed by this last group of links. I don’t know if Middle-Earth really needs a bear with an erection that lasts more than 4 hours.
In any case, must of the comments are just meaningless gibberish, easily spotted as I go through and clean out the spam folder. Every once and a while, however, I get some absurdist gem. Like a haiku that was written by an evil robot with loose wiring, these little bits of internet ephemera never fail to make me laugh. Typically, I just chuckle to my self, slap my massive paws to my sides, then delete them. But the latest one was so good, that I have decided to share with my readers. This comment comes from “Alice” who has a website somewhere in Russia, that wants me to download “applications”. So enjoy, and have a great weekend everyone, I’m off to slay some trolls in the mountains.
The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
